CARTERTON SALE. Associated Live Stock Auctioneers, Ltd., report as follows: —A very big yarding came forward at Carterton yesterday. AH the cattle pens were required to accommodate the large entry of dairy cattle, and a record entry of pigs for this season also came forward, together with several pens of sheep. Dairy cattle met with the best sale of the year, and we have to report a clearance at prices well in advance of last week. Included in the entry were 20 Ayrshire cross picked cows offered on behalf of Mr A. E. Anderson, of Clarevillc. These were a very nice lot being in good condition, and met with brisk and consistent bidding; the lowest price was £7 and the highest £lO 10s; the line averaged £8 9s, which tops our averages for the season. In addition to these, large numbers of dairy cows were offered on behalf of other vendors and although buyers were using discrimination, bidding was free throughout, and prices were particularly good. Springing heifers were in demand and made satisfactory prices. Store cows, yearling heifers and other store cattle made current values. Sheep met with a good sale, and the first pen of ewes with lambs at foot seen in the yards this season, was offered. rigs sold at improved values, good weaners making 17/- to 19/6 and sows due to farrow up to £7 7/6. Realisations were:—Spg. cows and cows on drop, £S to £lO 10s; later ealvers, £6 to £7 .15s; spg. heifers, £7 to £7/12/6; fat and fwd. cows, £2/18/-; store cows, £l/6/- to £l/10/-; yearling heifers, £l/15/-. Sheep: Fat and forward wethers, 16/- to 18/6; fat ewes, 15/6 to 16/-; fat hoggets, 11/3 and 11/3; ewes with lambs at foot, 9/-. Pigs: Weaner pigs, 14/- to 19/6; slips,
23/- to 23/6} porkers, 2d, - to 32/6? sows to farrow, £4/17/6 to £7/17/6. PEILDING SALE. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) FEILDIXG, Friday. There were heavy yardings of fat sheep and dairy cattle at the stock sale to-day. Fat sheep easied in price. Dairy cattle were firmer. Fat lambs, to 21s; fat wethers, 21s Sd; fat ewes, 20s 7d; best dairy heifers, late calvers, £S 17s :6d; fat bullocks, to £S; fat cows, £4; fat heifers, £4 10s. There was a dull market for store cattle.
