AMERICAN MINISTER
VISIT TO LONDON. RUGBY, Thursday. The United States Secretary of the Treasury, Mr Andrew Mellon, who is in London on an informal visit, was visited at his hotel to-day by Mr Montague Norman, Governor of the Bank of England, who remained for luncheon. Mr Mellon, who had a talk, at the House of Commons yesterday with the Prime Minister and the Foreign Secretary (Mr Henderson) had a further interview with these Ministers this afternoon.
IMPORTANT CONFERENCES. LONDON, Thursday. The “Daily Express’s’’ diplomatic correspondent says that Mr Mellon has been engaged since his arrival in a scries of conferences, to which great importance is attached in jiplitical and financial circles. He has l)ad two long interviews with Mr MacDonald. The diplomatic correspondent proceeds to say that Mr Mellon was invited to London to discuss the revision of war debts. OFFICIAL DENIAL. (Received Saturday, 9.15 a.m.) LONDON, Friday. Downing Street officially denies that Mr Mellon was invited to London, or that America had requested him to discuss the question of war debts with British Ministers or others.
