CALEDONIAN SOCIETY
ANNUAL INGLE3IDE. The Wairarapa Caledonian Society held its first Ingleside of the season in the Municipal Hall last evening, it being an enjoyable function. There was a large attendance. The decorations were most artistic and were arranged by the directors in accordance with a scheme designed by Mr A. S. Rigg. The supper arrangements were carried out by an energetic committee of directors’ wives, under the direction of Mrs A. C. Mae Diarmid. The supper .tables were also prettily decorated by tire ladies’ committee. The haggis was played in, according to Scottish tradition, by Pipe-Major Murdoch McKenzie, and Honorary Piper W. Harvey. At suitable intervals much-appreciated selections were played by the Wairarapa Pipe Band, while Mr T. S. Arcus, of South G’arterton, recited Burns’s "Ode to a Haggis,” and "The Selkirk Grace.” Messrs. A. G. Corskio and J. J. Hunter were capable M’s.C. Excellent music was provided by Mills’s Orchestra. Extras were kindly played by Mr and Mrs Kirk and Miss E. Finlayson. The directors and secretary did everything in their power to make the function a success.
