MOTOR GOES OVER BANK.

ACCIDENT ON RIMUTAKA HILL. DROP OF OVER 300 FEET. Two residents of Featherston, Horace Nelson Tulloch, single, aged about 30, and a man named Mc-Tamncy, of the Post Office staff, had a miraculous escape from death when they were precipitated over the side of the Rimutaka Road at about eleven o’clock on Friday night. The accident occurred near the summit of the hill, on the Wairarapa side. It appears that the driver pulled well over to- the side of the road to avoid a small slip when the edge of the road gave way and the ear and its occupants were .hurled down to the bottom of the gully, a distance of about 350 feet. Both men were thrown out and were for a time unconscious. Regaining their senses, both men, who had become separated, walived home. Mr McTamney escaped with a severe shaking, but Mr Tulloch was not so fortunate, it being found necessary to insert 37 stitches in his head. He was admitted to Dr. Sharpe’s Private Hospital and is reported to be progressing. The ear was completely wrecked.
