CLEAR SKY AT NIUAFOU. SATISFACTORY PHOTOGRAPHS. NIUAFOU, Wednesday. There were no clouds and the sky was fair for the eclipse of the sun. The photographs were -satisfactqry. The •corona was faint, two long streamers, six medium prominences, and Bailey’s beads. - , ’ The natives were interested. Both expeditions were successful. (The New Zealand Astronomical Society, reported this morning that it had received the following cablegram from Dr. C. E. Adams: —“Luck was with us. Rain during night and two hours before totality. Eclipse was seen in clear sky with slight,haze. All programmes were carried out. The corona was of medium type. Bailey’s beads, •shadow bands, and streamers were also seen. The eclipse began on time and ended early. Wind was east-south-east, light bireeze. The natives were interested but quiet. All are well.”)
