Miss Gaisford, playing beautiful golf, was 3 up on Miss Hay at the turn, and sup at the thirteenth, in the first 18 holes of the ladies’ championship final this morning. Miss Hay, however, covered the following five holes in 3 3 4 4 5, and was only 3 down when the players went in to lunch. Miss Gaisford won the first round. The Otago girl came to light towards the close. Miss Gaisford’s card totals 80, as follows: Out: 4 6 3 4 3 6 6 6 3—total 41. In: 45454 254 6—total, 39.
