WAIRARAPA HIGH SCHOOL.

ANNUAL SPORTS. The eighth annual sports meeting of the Wairarapa High School will be held at the School grounds on Friday next. The events will be decided from 9.30 a.m. to 12 (noon) and from 1.30 to 4.45 p.m. The boys have been training steadily for some time past, and, judging by the form displayed, some splendid finishes should be witnessed. A high standard has always been set by the youthful athletes at the school’s annual gathering, and no doubt it will be fully maintained this year. On the basis of performance at Friday’s meeting, the team to represent the school at the Secondary Schools’ championships, to be held at Wellington on November Bth, will be selected. The championship and handicap mile events have resulted as follows: Championship.—- R. Barnes 1, ,W. Welsh 2, R. Clarke 3. Time, 5.30 3-5, Handicap.—H. 'Drummond (scr.), 1; R. Todd (40yds), 2; A. Oongalton (40 yds), 3. Both events were keenly contested.
