MUSIC IN MASTERTON.

Music Week in Masterton achieved its object and there has been renewed interest taken in music by a large section of the population. The ground has been prepared for the work of a Choral Society or Musical Union. Masterton at one time possessed a very strong Musical Union, but the departure from the district of many prominent members eventually resulted in the society going into recess. There is plenty of talent in Masterton for a Musical Society, as was demonstrated at the concerts held during Music Week. Masterton should be capable of establishing a very strong institution of this kind. Pahiatua has a Musical Club with 76 active members and 20 honorary members, and stages a very enjoyable concert each year. Surely Masterton, a much bigger place, can at least do as well as Pahiatua.
