A BLACK REPUBLIC.
IN SOUTH AFRICA. COMMUNISTS’ AIM. Press Association-Electric lelearapc-CoDyrig!? (.Received Tuesday, 9.15 a.m.) CAPETOWN, Monday. The African National Congress obtained permission to bold a meeting limited to members yesterday. After two hours, a police inspector, accompanied by three tear-gas bombers, ■ordered the meeting to stop. Professor Thaele temporised with the inspector, and said: “I will speak to you outside.” After the meeting the inspector arrested Thaele, and released him on his own recognisances. Interviewed, Thaele said: "£SOO has been placed at our disposal by the Communist Party. Our aim is a Black African Republic. We will emto develop the country. "We have got a million members, with an average income of £20,000. One hundred and thirty-two chiefs would constitute the Upper House.”
