Tremendous damage was done in the Hunter Valley by the floods. Roads have become canals and a motor boat made an extensive tour of what normally was dry ground. Many residents of Hexham spent Thursday night on their roof tops. They were rescued by flood boats. Another family was picked up exhausted after having spent the night on a floating haystack.
Many isolated in north coast towns have been without supplies for days. Tliey will receive necessities by aeroplanes, which left Sydney yesterday. The East Greta colliery workings are flooded and the mine may have to be abandoned.
