LAWN TENNIS.
INTERESTING MATCHES. Matches were played on the Masterton Lawn Tennis Club’s courts yesterday afternoon between lady members of the club and girls of the Wairarapa High School and St. Matthew’s School. Tho matches wero arranged by Mrs Trovor Boetham, who goes to . a great deal of trouble in promoting friendly encounters of tho kind, particularly thoso in'which young players have an opportunity of learning something from those who are older and more experienced. All who engaged in yesterday’s games had an enjoyable time, and the school girls, though they had an uphill task, acquitted themselves very well. The scores were:— AGAINST ST. MATTHEW’S. MASTERTON PARK CLUB. Tho ladies’ handicap singles eompetion for Mr L. S. Nicol’s trophy, was completed on Saturday, the winner being Miss Dulcie Allan. Misses Stella Poison and Rita Brown won the handicap doubles and will hold tho Dickson Plumes for the season.
