The Venerable Archdeacon Herbert Williams has been unanimously elected by a special synod of the Waiqm Diocese as Bishop to succeed the lit. Rev. Dr. W. W. Sedgwick, whose resignation will take effect on December 31.

At the meeting of the Y.M.C.A. directors last evening, Mr 11. M. Peacock announced that he had decided to accede to the wish of the directors that he should become president of the Association. The announcement was warmly received by the directors present.

Mr and Mrs A. D. McLeod returned to London recently after an extensive tour of England, Scotland, and Ireland. They have left for the Continent to sprend a month before their return journey to New Zealand, which will be via Suez and Australia. Mr McLeod's health has been very greatly benefited by the change.

At the smoke concert of the Carterton Football Club advantage was taken of the occasion by Mr C. A. Gray to express to the honorary secretary (Mr 11. A. McPhee) the thanks and appreciation of the club members for the efficient and very satisfactory work carried out by him year after year with a goodwill and enthusiasm seldom met with. Almost solely on account of Mr McPhee’s care and management the club stood in its present satisfactory position, and Mr Gray said that he took this opportunity to publicly express the real appreciation felt by the club towards such an excellent executive officer.
