A VITAL FACTOR.
OPTIMISM NEEDED TO-DAY. “To come to an Optimists’ Club and give an address on “Optimism” is like carrying coals to Newcastle,” were the opening remarks of Mr Len J. Greenberg’s address at the Masterton Optimist Club dinner on Saturday night. ■Speaking of optimism generally mere was something elusive about the term but as a vital principal in life it was not so elusive. The speaker enumerated various humorous and fantastic definitions of optimism and passed on to say that optimism could become a real working principle in life. Its effect was eventually for good and there was great need for an optimistic attitude to life to-day with its business difficulties and many perplexing problems. ' “I like to see optimism actually JP" monstrated in a man,” said Mr Greenberg. “Sir Walter Scott was an optimist. He became famous and wealthy, but the storm broke on him, yet he carried on and rehabilitated himself in spite of great difficulties. General Booth was a superb optimist because he looked for the finest speck of SMd in the meanest.” Mr Gree nb e r'" TX * r ’ lit - gested to those who professed oil; not to be content with talkinijHwut it but to put it into action as well.
