RUSSIA AND CHINA.
A DEADLOCK. (Received Wednesday, 10.30 a.m.) SHANGHAI, Tuesday. The Nanking Foreign Office announces that the Sino-Russian negotiations for a settlement of the Chinese Eastern railway dispute have reached a deadlock, owing to the refusal of tho Chinese to accept the Russian demand for a status quo management of the railway prior to the opening of the negotiations. —A. and N.Z.
