GOLF.

VICTORIAN CHAMPIONSHIP. WIN FOR MORPETH. MELBOURNE, Tuesday. The weather was good for the continuation to-day of the amateur golf championships of Victoria. Sloan Morpeth had an even tussle with Fawcct, both taking 39 going out in the morning round. Coming home, Fawcett had chances to win at the seventeenth and eighteenth holes, but lost his advantage by missing four-feet putts. Morpeth took 40 and Fawcett 39. In the afternoon round, Morpeth won at the 37th hole. Hancork beat Bulte at the 39th. The semi-finalists are now Morpeth, L. Nettlefold (Australian champion), M. Ryan and A. Hancock. Morpeth’s chances are highly regarded, despite the calibre of Nettlefold and Ryan, who are in great form. —A. and N.Z. P.A.
