EX-SOLDIERS 5 DEATHS.
MORTALITY AMONG AUSTRALIANS SYDNEY, Thursday. Amplifying his comments on the deaths of Australian soldiers since the war, Mr W. Stagg (Secretary of the. Returned Soldiers’ League of New South Wales) says the Repatriation Department merely records deaths oflicially recognised as due to war service, which number is 21,281. Mr Stagg explains that his figures include "diggers” whose pensions and claims are refused, together with those- who have not bothered to apply for pensions, which total easily 00,000. deaths since the war. —A. and N.Z.
