THE MASTERTON SEAT.

(To the Editor.)

Sir, —Poor Mr Hannah. If Ik- had lived in the electorate all his life he would have known that the ladies of lhe Masterton (i electorato arc noted for I)rains, and so when he sought to wound i'c has merely,.. complimented. Never mind old sport, have, another go, but he careful, and don’t talk so loudly about money, fur tho first thing you know the electors will be.saving, "The capitalists are behind Joe Ward,” and then look out. Just imagine, a whole £IOO

■gone west. Never mind, there's £70,000,000 coming and we won't have to . Wy it back. The good old farmer and working tpan, etc., will see to that. I didnj&say walking man. dust fancy, three jjpirs of boots in so short a while. There is one thing you forgot to mention John, and that is the fact ■that Sir Joseph is far too old to stand up to the strain of politics and if he cracks up, who then? In conclusion I must congratulate you on your lettei. It was a - really, clever bit of political propaganda. but lam afraid it was wasted in Masterton. I am, etc.,

F. MILLER

(To the Editor.)

Sir, —I notice Mr Hannah’s complimentary remarks in your paper of November 19, when referring to Mr :Svkes 7 return as Member for Masterton. It reminded mt' of the old sayjrvj. “Some are born to greatness; pgme acquire greatness; and some have greatness thrust upon them.” But how rare to know of a man, not only /acquiring greatness, but having greatness thrust upon him at the same time, as was done by the ladies of Masterton , and through their votes. Glad hkf.- Sykes is such a very nice man and that it did not require the lure of "seventy millions” to place him on top. Will vote for him next time, •sure. Long live Masterton’s good old George. —I am, etc., HELEN BOOTS.
