The track was heavy as the result of previous *ains. The totalisator receipts for the day amounted to £43,620 10s. ASHBURTON RACES. ASHBURTON, Saturday. The Ashburton Racing Club’s winter meeting was held in good weather before a large attendance. The course was a little slow. The totalisator handled £5924, as compared with £9092 last year. T. C. Pratt, rider of Mataipuke, which fell in the Steeplechase, was admitted to hospital suffering from concussion.
