METHODIST HOME.

BOARD OF MANAGEMENT. At the monthly meeting of the Board of Management of thc # Methodist Children’s Home, there were present: Mr S. J. Smith (in the chair), the Revs. J. T. \\ r alis and S. Keen, Messrs p. L. Danic 11, A. 11. Daniell, J. 11. Handyside, AV. H. Judd, F. E. Wells, and Dr. Prior, Mesdames J, Elliott, J. Cocker, Ptagndl, and the Rev. J. Cocker (secretary). It was reported that six motherless children had ’been admitted to the Home during the past month. The secretary gave a resume of the new Child Welfare Act and its effects upon orphanages and children’s homes. The Rev. J. Cocker was appointed manager ■cf the home in accordance with the provisions of the Act. It was decided to request the fortyfour circuits in the area to appoint agents for the Home. Preliminary arrangements were made in connection with the annual concert. The monthly statement was adopted, and accounts amounting to £65 were passed for payment.

Dr. X. 11. Prior showed a scries of moving pictures representing the children of the Home in their various activities, as well as a number of other entertaining and instructive views. The following is a list of gifts received during the month: —Mrs Lamb, clothing; Mrs Elliott, fruit; Mr Physiek, cakes; Mrs Lochore, plants and tomatoes; members of Masonic Lodge, food; Mr Buick, fruit; Druids’ Lodge, cake, etc.; Mrs Blamires, scones; Mrs Milne, clothing and food; Mrs I’rcddy, Carterton; pumpkins, Mrs Hatch, clothing: Airs McKenzie, Manaia, clothing and fruit; Mrs Milne, books; Airs Cocker, clothing; Mr Shaw, marrows; Trinity Club, clothing; Mr Rippon, meat; Barber Bros'., dripping; Air Hopkins, plants; Air Shaw, Te Ore Ore, £3; members of Alasterton Club, £25 9s fid.
