DISMISSAL OF MEN.
GOVERNMENT HOUSE FACTORY. (By Telegraph —Press Association.) HAMILTON, Monday. Complaints have been made to members of Parliament in tliis district of the dismissal of men from tlie Government railway house factory at Prankton. To-day Mr W. L. Martin, M.P., sent the following telegram to the Prime Minister:—"l am advised that seven more men have been put off at the Frankton house factory, and that others have been notified, some of whom arc married. In view of the large amount of unemployment and tlie very genuine distress, I hope that the Government will not increase this, but keep these men employed. ” Officials at the factory declared that ii would be a waste of public money to keep men on the pay roll when no work could be found. The programme haa been finished, and unless further instructions were received there was no alternative but to get rid of hands for whom work could not be found. During the past six months approximately 25 men have been put off.
