MASTERTON SALE. The Now Zealand Fanners’ Co-opera-tive Distributing Co., Ltd., report on the Masterton sale, held yesterday: We offered a fair yarding of both sheep and cattle. Sheep sold on a par with recent rates, but cattle values were down considerably on our last cattle fair. We quote: M.A. Lincoln ewes in lamb to Sff)., 24/, shorn wether lambs 18/1, m.s. woolly lambs (small) 10/7, forward wethers 21/, fat wethers 21/6, fat ewes 14/. Cattle: Fat cows £4 5/, £5 12/, £6 to £6 7/, 8-year P.A. steers £5 5/, 21-year Hereford steers £4 9/, 20month Hereford steers £4, forward cows £2 to £8 14/; 20-month Hereford heifers £2 10/; P.A. do, £2 15/. Dalgctv and Co., Ltd., report on the Masterton sale as follows: —A good yarding of sheep and a fair entry of cattle were submitted to a large .attendance. Competition was fairly keen for sheep, but there was only a limited demand for cattle. Following is the range of prices:— Acdbunt Weraiti Estate, 800 2-tooth wethers 20/S; account D. H. S. R'iddiford, 900 2-tooth wethers, IS/6; other sales, 164 f.m. ewes 16/, 146 b.f. lambs 13/, 74 do 14/3, 54 w.f. lambs 14/1, 31-year P.A. steers £6 14/; 1-year Hereford steers £5 18/; 14-year P.A. steers £4 17/; P.A. heifers and cows £4 5/, Hereford cows £8 5/; empty 3-year heifers £3 2/. Wright, Stephenson and. Co., Ltd., report: —We offered a fair yarding of cattle and sheep to a large attendance. Although bidding was not particularly brisk, most of our entry changed hands. Sheep sold at prices about on a par with late rates, while cattle were a little easier, hut considering the autumn experienced In the Wairarapa, we thought prices were quite satisfactory. Unfortunately a heavy southerly came up while the sale was in progress, with the result that lots offered during the latter part of the sale met with the interest of only a few buyers. Following are our prices:—Three and fouryear bullocks £6 to £6 10/; 2-year steers £5, yearling steers £4 to £4 3/, empty heifers £8 15/ to £4, yearling heifers £2 10/, store cows £2 to £3 4/, forward cows £4 10/, fat cows £5 5/, forward ewes,ll/ to 12/6, w.f. lambs 12/ to 13/.

The Wairarapa Farmers’ Co-opera-tive Association, Ltd. (Stock Department) .report:—At the combined sheep and cattle fair specially advertised, our entry was well represented by a yarding of 1000 sheep and 600 head of cattle. Buyers were present from the Wairarapa, Bush and outside districts. The majority of the cattle yarded were in •good condition. Special lines were offered on account of J. Campbell, Junr., Rawhiti Statin, Kororau Station, Kumu Kumu and others. The younger classes of cattle sold well, especially the 18month and 24-year steers, a fine line of 24-vear P.A. sters on account of Rawhiti Station making £6; IS-month Hereford steers on account Kororau Station £4 12/; 18-month heifers on account same vendor, £B. With a few exceptions practically all the cattle remained in the Wairarapa and Bush districts.’ Good wethers showed a rising tendency, more especially ewe lambs. Failingmoutli ewes in lamb to S.D. met with little demand. We report as follows: — '24 34-year Hereford cross steers £6 10/, 24 do. £6 5/, 11 34-year steers £5 7/6, 26 24-vear P.A. steers £6, 4 do. £5 11/, 4 do £4 19/, 10 P.A. 34-year steers £6 3/, 5 34-year steers £5 10/, 20 ISmonth Hereford steers £4 12/, 9 do. £8 .16/, 11 do. £3 17/; others £2 5/, £2 6/, £2 19/ to £2 10/; 28 18-month Hereford heifers £3, 17 P.A. do. £2 Ss, 10 do. £1 16/, 8 fat and forward P.A. heifers £3 12/, 13 fat and forward P.A. cows £4 10/, 13 do. £4 11/, 8 fat and forward cows and heifers £8 2/; 2 fat Hereford steers £ll, 14 light fat P.A. steers £7, fat cow £7, 2 store P.A. cows £3 10/, 1 do. £2 5/, 5 runners £2 1/, 34 m.s. weaners 32/6, 7 do. 37/6, potter cows from 25/ to 37/6. Sheep: 806 2tooth wethers 20/2, 225 shorn ewe lambs 16/1, light fat owes 12/6.
