WHEAT AND FLOUR.
AGREEMENT NOT RATIFIED. (By Telegraph —Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Wednesday. The North Canterbury Farmers’ Union, to-,day decided not to ratify the agreement arrived at by the conference of millers and wheat growers a few (lays,’ago. by which the millers agrebd: to pay. growers, certain pr,ices for Avlicat.. according to the ruling pric.e for flour... The reason .as. stated at the meeting to-day for the farmer! Avijthholding their consent to the agreement Avas that it seemed to them that tlie millers were placing a different interpretation on the agreement from that understood by the growers’ representatives. At the conference it was understood by tlie groAvcrs’ representath’es that the price of wheat should be 6s on the present price of Hour, but it appeared that the millers Averc basing the price to be paid on a lower; value of flour, and making the price of Avlicat correspondingly lower. It Avas considered by the Farmers’ Union that ,the matter AA’as therefore still under negotiation.
