J. Rogers, who defeated Mr Hope Gibbons for the Mayoralty of Wanganui yesterday, was formerly a resident of Masterton, where he took a prominent part in Y.M.C.A. and Church work. Mr Rogers’ friends will be pleased to hear of his success in public life at Wanganui. The death occurred at Carterton yesterday of Mrs A. J. Price, who was well known in both the Wairarapa and Wellington districts. Witli her husband, who was engaged in sawni’illiug in the Wairarapa and who predeceased her some 20 years ago, Mrs Price first went to Carterton in the early ’seventies. Some thirty years later she went to Wellington, where she had resided ever since. A few months ago the deceased went on a holiday visit to Carterton, but while there became ill and never recovered. Mrs Price, who was ’in her seventy-eighth year at the time of her'death, leaves one son and three daughters to mourn her loss.’ The son is Mr C. T. Price, of Nelson, and tlie ■daughters are; Mrs Aplin, of Carterton; Mrs Wellington; and Mrs Cohen, Wellington.
