MEMORY.
(To the Editor.) Sir, —It has been asserted that njan is ,the only being: gifted with memory. But the artist who sketched the doggie listening to his master's voice at the gramaplione evidently held a different opinion; and Landseer who painted “The Shepherd’s Chief Mourner” must have felt that his doggie remembered a good deal too. Stories have been told of elephants taking revenge upon people, who had injured them some time before. Indeed history abounds in anecdotes of, animals and birds exhibiting a sense which might put politicians and others with convenient memories to shame. —I am, etc., •A 'SEARCHER FOR TRUTH.” ' Masterton, April 2S.
