OFFERING MYSELF for rcelection to the Wellington Harbour Board, of which I have 'been a member for the past four years. 1 lam a member of the Special Committee on Shipping Freights and Charges, which in February, 1925, issued a report dealing with the injustice of the flat rate, the wasteful policy of ■overseas ships calling at numerous ports and roadsteads around the coast, and the consequent irregular shipments; and advocating concentration at main ports. This report was adopted by the Harbour Board, together with recommendations for big reductions of freight charges, now amounting to £35,000 —the first remissions made in the history of the Board. The present policy of the Harbour Board is to provide* shipping with the most modern and efficient facilities for handling ships and cargo at the cheapcost for all services. As a resulL its charges to-day are 20 per cejipiaeaper than those of any port in New FZealand. *1 have' served faithfully the best .interest ,sof the district, both commercial and producing, and, if re-elected, will continue to do the same to the best of mv ability. .‘THOMAS ROBERT BARREE.
