PAHIATUA MEETING-. THE opening day. (Special Reporter.) The Palviatua Racing Club’s- annual meeting opened yesterday in fine weather. Nukumai won the Cup . fl " om Modern and Bright Day, and in the open sprint Buoyant beat First Acre and Bright Knight. The track was in good order, and there was a good attendance. The totalizator handled £12,828, as against £l3 °73 on the first day last year, a decrease of £445. B. H. Morris, rider of ' Panart, sustained facial injuries wjien that horse fell with him in the Human Handicap, and he did not ride again during the day.
