WHITE PLAGUE.
SPAHLINGER’S [METHOD. TREATMENT CONDEMNED. Press Ajsoeiation-Electnc Telegraph-Copyright-LONDON, Tuesday. Remarkable direct accusations are contained in a long, despatch from Genova from the “Daily Express respondent, sent specially to enquire into the Spahlinger Institute. _ The correspondent declares that already sufficient has been sent to enable M. Spahlinger to provide serum, yet he complains that he is hampered :oy lack of funds. The methods of the institute • are’ condemned by world-famous scientists. Certain juiblished evidences of cures are inaccurate. “I saw patients .who had given all to the institute, who begged and prayed me- to prevent others coming from England. Gome qf these were worse after a c-o urso of Spall linger serum, or vaccine, or -both, and some were dying. Definite evidence was found that patients who were treated died, yet, of whom it was denied that they had visited Spall-. linger. Others were resolute in their confidence ,aud said they were cured or were better. “It was repeatedly told that Spalilinger was not a business man, and that it was impossible to ascertain the amount of money obtained. The correspondent was told, ‘ ‘ What the devil has it go to do with the ‘Daily Express,’ so long as there is a cure’.?” The correspondent adds: “I hold documentary evidence showing that in. 11(24, while tuberculosis work was going forward, Spahlinger was proposing to start a factory in France for the manufacture of -beauty specific. Spahlinger actually inspected the suggested premises at Dijon, yet he is not supposed to be a business man.”
