It is reported that the greater part, of ..the coastal belt is flooded. , At Byron Bay, over 23J inches! of rain have fallen this month. The creeks and rivers are running bank high. Much low-lying land is under water and railway services are interrupted. i There have been several wa|h-outs on the Brisbane-Townsville line. At least five bridges have been washed away. RAIN IN NEW SOUTH WALES. SYDNEY, Monday. Beneficial rain has: been experienced throughout the State at the week-end. FURTHER HEAVY RAIN. SEVERAL DROWN IN GS. (eceiveiD Tuesday, 10.50 a.m.) BRISBANE, This Day. Further heavy rain has caused the cancellation of nil northern trains. The Burdekin and Herbert river-s are flooded while reports from practically all southern centres state that flood conditions prevail. Rain is still falling, with every indication of continuing.'
