Admiral Fitzmaurice, commanding the South African naval station, died after a paralytic stroke. The Minister of Public Health (Hon. . J. A. Young) paid a visit to the Masterton Hospital to-dav, and was present at the official inspection of the new -electrical installation throughout the insti- 1 tution. A London cablegram announces the 1 ’ death of General -Sir Charles Warren,- ‘y G.C.M.G. The late Sir Charles War- " xen, who was born ni Wales in 1840:' had a long and distinguished military career. He commanded a division in the South African war. The death occurred at the Masterton .Public Hospital this morning pf Miss Flora Belle Gardner, Deceased has been in bad health tor some considerable time having contracted a severe cold- on the voyage from England to New Zealand., It is supposed that deceased’s only relative . in New Zealand is a brother who re-k sides in the South Island. The funeral— 1 will | leave Mr George Hyde ’s, Mortu-Hfc: ary fchapel, at 3 p.-m. -to-morrow for the* Masie-rton cemetery.
