BRADLEY’S MONKEY JUPPODBOME. This wonderful exhibition, of monkeys will make their first appearance inMasterton on Tuesday, September 7. Speaking' of the monkeys, the Dominion said: “The star turn at His Majesty’s Theatre is Bradley’s Monkey Hippodrome and Monkey Jazz Band, now in its second week and more popular than ever. The cute little creatures, with their little cymbals, big bass viol and other instruments, kept everyone fascinated, while the advice to “watch the conductor’’ was well given, his enthusiastic gyrations causing shrieks of laughter. The monkeys conduct their own show, even to announcing the items of the programme. The wire-walk-ing, acrobatic, weight-lifting and flying trapeze performances would put many a human being to the blush. This simian troupe is■ the best that has ever ■been seen in Wellington.’’ In addition to the monkeys, an excellent I programme will be provided by. Elinor Glyn’a latest screen production, “The Only Thing,’’ made for Hetro-Goldwyn-Mayer and featuring a cast headed by Elanor Boardman and tConrad Nagel, and which is coming tothis Cosy Theatre for two nights, commencing to-night, bids fair to be her greatest picture. Much interest is always manifested in an Elinor Glyn picture, for they gall include two very interesting ingredients—love and beauty.' The action takes place during the four days before the marriage of a Northern Princess of great beauty and charm, to the old and decrepit Krug of Chekia. A foreign envoy finds himself involved in a great affair of the heart. He desires the Princess. She, too, loves him to such an extent that she almost abandons all for him, for ho wants her to flee with him to Engand. But duty represents a. big thing in her life and she knows she must go through with the plans to marry the King, thereby gaining an alliance with Chekia for her country. Wonderful supports add extra entertainment of a high order. Reserves at Henderson’s. OPEEA HOUSE. Tom Mix in “Conquering Blood,” will bo tiie attraction at the Opera House fOT to-night only. This is a screen version of “Cinquisador, ” the famous novel by Katherine Fullerton Gerould, and many of the scenes are in Technicolour. “Conquering Blood” is a colourful story of Old Mexico and affords Mix a wonderful opportunity for some splendid action. Many of the ratio scenes are strikingly beautiful. There are numerous close-up shots of Mix and other members of the company. The east includes the vivacious' Olive Borden, Margaret Kingston, Kathryn Hill, Martha Mattox,"Francis McDonald, Alec Francis and others. Beautiful wildflower sequences were fiilmed in Wyoming. The Spanish hacienda scenes were laid, in Southern California. Tony has his usual high moments —and his master does a tango with Margaret 'Kingston. This is one of the most romantic.pictures in which the western star has appeared during his long association with the William Fox organisation.
