Wairarapa Daily Times [ESTABLISHED OVER 50 YEARS] SATURDAY, AUGUST 28, 1926. PUBLICITY CAMPAIGN.
The proposal to continue the publicity campaign in Masterton is one that is ■worthy of the keenest support of every member of the Chamber of Commerce. It is only by sustained effort and . by continual boost that M:Vster.ton will make headway in the direction of increased size and importance. Closer settlement, as Mr I’ragncU pointed out at the meeting oi! the Chamber of Commerce this week, is of vital importance t ) the growth and prosperity of the town and district. When the Government applies a closer settlement policy to the northern part of the Wairarapa, then there will commence an era of .progress never before recorded in the history of the Wairarapa. The. 8.1. M. Committee has already done excellent seivice in the interests of the business community and in other directions, so we trust that tire policy which they have inaugurated will bo continued. Spasmodic efforts bring no permanent results—continued action is what “produces the goods,” to use* a colloquialism. The example of Napier may well bo followed, where various campaigns are undertaken each year with the object of boosting Napier along. Thci prosperity that Napier enjoys is evidence of the success of such a policy. Masterton must be “put upon the mop,“ and it is only by publicity .that this can be accomplished. Population must follow publicity, and industries come ill the wake of the. increase in population, which brings about a greater demand for various commodities. The .spirit which has prompted certain local citizens in their effort to help Mastenton to progress could well bo emulated by every resident of the town.
