An increase in the personnel of ten thousand, the establishment of a fleet base at Alameda. California, and an advanced base at Hawaii. The report says the United States hicks twenty-two 10.000 ton cruisers, eighteen' destroyers and leaders, to match England’s strength in these types. There is also a lack of twenty-three fleet submarines to match Japan’s. The United States is gravely deficient in airplanes ,whereas it should have a force able to dominate the air. The report adds that the navy's greatest weakness is a lack of adequate speedy auxiliaries. The States radio equipment is so obsolete that it. cannot be depended on. —Aus. and N.Z. Cable Assn.
