During the holidays Air Rogers, of Appleby, who recently retired from the teaching profession, had ft narrow escape from being gored to -death by a Jersey bull, which attacked him without warning aud knocked him down. Fortunately he managed to escape with no worse injuries than a broken rib and severe bruises. The bull had been dehorned, and had stumps about three inches long.
