PAHIATUA TOURNEY. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) PAHIATUA, This Day. The .tennis tournament was concluded this morning, after extending over four days. In the semi-finals of the men’s championship singles, J. G. Swainson beat Johnson, 6/3, 0/1; Welch beat Hooper, 4/6, 6/2, 6/3. In the final, Swainson triumphed over Welch, after a stern tussle, 3/6, 6/4, 6/2. This was a splendid achievement for Swainson, who won the championship at Pahiatua for the first time twenty years ago. The men’s championship doubles wa; won by Swainson and Hooper against Welch and Johnson, 6/1, 6/1. The handicap doubles were won by W. V. Fisher (Wellington) and 'Falloon (Mastertou) against W. B. Lowes and 1?. H. Wardell. The ladies’ championship singles was annexed by Miss B'ua Gardner (Wellington). In the qualifying rounds Mrs N. W. Groves displaced Mrs. Potter 9/5, Miss Gardner beat Mrs. Booth 9/4, and Mrs. Groves beat Mrs. B. F. Smith 9/6. In the combined championship doubles semi-final, Johnson and Mrs Potter beat Hooper and Mrs. Smith 9/", while Welch and Mrs. Groves' beat Maekie and Miss Armistead. Tn the final, Welch and Mrs. Groves beat Johnson and Mrs. Potter, 9/6. In the ladies’ handicap doubles, Mrs Smith and Miss Gardner (owe 10) beat Mesdamcs Potter and Booth (owe 15), 65/60.
