BOWLING.

WAIRARAPA CENTRE. NEW YEAR TOURNEY. For the second day of the Wairarapa Bowling Centre's New Year tourney on the Mastcrron green on Saturday, the weather was again unpleasant. Although there was insufficient rain to prevent play, a fairly stiff southerly breeze had its effect on the bowling. Thurston, MeCalden, Morton and Kerr (Masterbon) played well throughout the tournament, going through the ■six rounds without a loss. Much interest •centred in their final game, against Parton. Simmonds, Dykes and Ilughan (Carterton). At the 12th head there were B) all, and, with 7 heads to go, the scores were 1(3 —14. From then on Kerr put on 5 and 2, to Ilughan \s 1, winning by 24 to Hi. The runnersup in the A section were Fielding (Ilntaitai), and Ramsay (Hataitai), with 3 wins and one loss each. In the B section, Taylor, Hazelwood, Cooper and Crawford (Ilataitai) and Spiith, Hart, Fisher and Whyte (Carterton). lead with 3 wins and one loss each. The . runners-up were the rinks skipped by Laws (Newtown) and Woolley, with 4 wins and two losses each. At an interval in the afternoon, Mr A. W. Chapman.'on behalf of -the Mas•t erf on' Club, referred to the splendid assistance given to Wairarapa bowling by Mr R.
