PICNIC FATALITY.

TRAGIC ACCIDENT. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) NELSON, Saturday. A tragic occurrence took place at Awa (Dove dale district) yesterday afternoon, the victim being Miss Lucy Olsen, aged about 25, who resided in Tasman street, and was employed as a clerk by Messrs. J. Weblev and’Sons. Deceased, in company with a party of friends, motored out to Awa to spend tli-e holiday. A stay was made at Mr A. K. Win’s farmhouse ,and while there Miss Olsen climbed into a trap in a shed. Two of the party, in a spirit of fun, got hold of the shafts and commenced pulling the vehicle out. Miss Olsen struck her head against a wooden beam, as a result of which hei neck was dislocated. She died within a few minutes. Deceased was long sighted, and at the time of the accident was not- wearing her glasses. No doubt toe roof of tire shed would have apnenred to her to be liigbe” than it reallv was. Her parents are in Sydney.
