As the result of the theatre of hostilities nearing the Japanese defencezone, the War Office announces the text of a communication which the commander of the ■ Japanese Kwangtung army expects to send simultaneously to the rival Chinese commanders fighting in Manchuria. After emphasising Japan’s strictly non-interference policy hitherto followed, the communication contains a warning that if hostilities in the railway zone or the adjacent districts jeopardise Japanese lives or property, Japanese troops will be constrained to act. —Aus. and X.Z.
