In proceedings about a month ago involving the interpretation of the will of his father (John Glass) ho was stated to have disappeared in 1902. The Court had -to determine whether Alfred Duncan Glass or his son Alfred George Douglajs Glass was entitled to a share of the estate, considerable doubt hav- ■ ing arisen owing to extraordinary mistakes’ made in the names of several of the descendants. Mr. Justice Reed having come to the conclusion That the son of the testator ■was entitled to the share,in question, it became necessary to locate the beneficiary. A scries of advertisements failed to disclose any trace of the man, *l>ut last Monday lie reported his arrival in Auckland. He explained that he left Auckland sibout 23 years ago, leaving his wife i( who had since died) in Auckland, and went to reside in Hastings, where lie had been since, going under the name of “Alfred Campbell" (his mother’s maiden name having been Campbell). About a month ago an acquaintance who had known him at De\on-_ port as Glass and as Campbell at Hastings, drew his attention to a ncwspapci report -of the will case. He and his friend lost no' time in coming to Auckland, travelling overland by motor car, and he was readily identified by his elder brother and by an aunt, who had been appointed executrix.

Thus by the lucky chance of reading a newspaper report by an acquaintance, the fortunate beneficiary is placed in h position to receive a legacy of ■over £7OO.
