BILLIARDS.
McCONACHY v. FALKINER. It is not often that there are such fluctuations in big billiards as there have been in the present match at Wellington between Falkiner and MeQonaehy. At two periods in the game McConachv has been .over 1000 points behind, but after his great exhibition on Monday, which he excelled last night, he now leads by 17 points short of 1000. At"the end of the. afternoon session the scores were: —Falkiner 10,807, MeConachy 10,800. Falkiner’s breaks were 147, 110 and 165; MeConachy’s 102 and 066. In the evening MeConachy, giving a magnificent display of all-round, billiards, deliberately, refraining from long runs of cannons and spot play, compiled the splendid brfrak of 82!), first missing a screw-back cannon off the white, owing to an attempt to make the white ball angle in the pocket and stay at that end of the table. Falkiner only replied with six, and MeConachy had a non-scoring lfftiid; Falkiner ran np to 148, mostly nursery cannons, when the balls ran safe. McConachv then reached his points with 166 unfinished. MeConachy (in play) . 11,950 , Falkiner • 10,967 The break of 829 was made in a little over an hour. <,
