TURF TOPICS. Many Colours proved beyond doubt at Trenthain on Saturday that he is going to make good over hurdles. A Press message from Auckland states that no Aucklanders are available for nomination for the inter-island match. Omahu, who is still required to mix hurdling and steepling, was given a good chance in the Winter Hurdles at Trenthain, but he did not flatter his supporters. He finished fifth, but had not the speed either at his fences or on the flat to keei) with the leaders. Comical was a bit unlucky to be beaten in t'he Winter Hurdles. He looked a winner all the way over the last few furlongs till nearing the finish, when it could be 9Cen that he was not going to stall off the challenge of Lucullent.

Vagabond ran a fine race in the Winter Hurdles at Trenthain, and was fairly handy at the finish for a horse whose forte is staying. He should not lack supporters for the Grand National Hurdles.

The following nominations of officers have been received for the Masterton Racing Club:—President: Mr. C. F. Vallanee (elected unopposed); vicepresidents, Messrs. W. Cooper and G. H. Yates (elected unopposed); stewards, eighteen nominated, six more than are required, a ballot being necessary. Those nominated are: Messrs. C. J. Bennett, F. E. Dorset, R. Cooper, F. B. Vallanee, K.
