“The Outsider,” the record-breaking four-act drama, in which the famous Russian-Jewish actor, Maurice Moscovitch, and hi.s talented dramatic comwill make their first and only appearance in Masterton at the Opera House on Thursday evening "next, is highly recommended by success, both in England and America, where it had a wonderful run in both these cities. Written by the well-known authoress, Dorothy Brandon, with interpretation by members of this famous organisation, and the added advantage of personal production of the world-famous actor genius, Maurice Moscoviteh, a hue representation of what is spoken of as ran exceptionally brilliant play, should result. In Wellington and Christ church recently, “The Outsider” received unstinted praise of the playgoing public and the newspaper critics throughout its most successful run in both those cities. He played on the feelings of the audience, and the sure touch of the master hand and the force of Ins remarkable personality dominate* every scene.” One felt that here was one of the great geniuses of the drama. “LADY KILTIES.” Somehow or other, whether one is a Scotchman or not, the sight and sound of a kilties’ band stirs the martial blood within one, and sets the feet moving. This state of affairs is the more accentuated when the “Kilties” happen to be ladies, as is the case with the Australian Scottish Pipe Band at present on tour of the world, and which is visiting Masterton on 'Monday and Tuesday next. One might quote from the Australian papers of the success that has attended the visit of the band to the principal towns of the various .States, but we can come nearer home and give an extract from the New Zealand Herald, Auckland. That morning daily’s critic said: “Many of the performers are but young girls, yet they play their' parts with the ease which comes of a sound knowledge of technique. The piping was in ' every case greatly appreciated, while the dancing and singing left little to be desired. ”

After the completion of the New Zealand tour it is the intention of the band to visit Suva, Honolulu, Canada, United States of America, Great Britain and France, returning home to Australia via South Africa. Their opening programme in Masterton is being looked forward to with a great deal of expectancy, while the band’s fellow-coun-trymen are making every effort to make the visit of the lassies a memorable one. ' Box plans open on Friday next.
