TAXI-DRIVERS LICENSES.
COUNCIL TO DECIDE. At last night’s meeting of the Masterton Borough Council, Cr. Kemp movted, in accordance with his notice of motion, that the former method of issuing taxi-drivers’ licenses —upon the recommendation of the sergeant of police—be reverted to. The mover said -during the period that tfife taxi-drivers’ .■licenses were issiued on the police recommendation there had been no trouble, but as soon as this method was departeAJrrorn the Council had struck troubjjßk'er the issue of a taxi-driver’s licens^V
After the motion had been discussed, it was put to the meeting and lost on the voices. 3
The issuing of licenses will thus be left for the Council to decide, as at present, i ,
