WELLINGTON SALES. The usual fortnightly sale of sheepskins, hides and tallow was held at Wellington yesterday afternoon, when a medium-sized catalogue of all classes was submitted to a fully representative attendance of buyers. Competition was fairly good for all specially prepared parcels, and prices for dry and salties were firm at late rates. The catalogue comprised some nice lines of butchers. Values for heavies and lightweights were about on a par with previous quotations. Light weights showed a slight improvement, and were better by ]d per lb. Kip and yearling were in demand, and values were about .jd to Ad per -lb above last sale rates. Calf sold •well up to late rates. The following is the range of prices: Sheepskins.—llalfbred, 9d to 12 jd; fine crossbred, 103 d to II3d; medium to coarse crossbred, Bjd to 103 d; short to half wools, 7Ad to 103 d; lambs, 83d to 123 d; dead and damaged crossbred, 5 to Old; inferior and badly damaged, 3d- to 7fd; pelts, fid to 93d; damp, salted and green, 4s to 10s Oil; pelts, salted, 4s; lambs, salted, Is to 7s 9d.
