In. view of the approach of the Wim-» bledom meeting, the defeat of the lady; champion, Miss MeKane, in the final at the Birdhurst tournament by an 18-vear-old girl, Joan Pry, 3/6, 6/3, 6/4, is regarded as significant.—Aus. and N.Z. FINAL OF LADIES ” CHAMPIONSHIPS. * The final of the ladies’ senior championship of the St. Matthew’s Tennis Club was played on Saturday afternoon last, in the presence of a large number of members and visitors. After a very interesting game Miss Alma Perry beht Mrs Bullock by a narrow margin. The winner holds until next season the challenge, silver cup presented to the club by Mr W. Andrew (Upper Plain), and also wins a silver cup.
