■ » —— FOR PRIMARY PUPILS FOURTH ASSIGNMENT OF WORK. Much of the work sent in shows little interest on the part of the parents, while some of the work is exceptionally good. The gap between the stronger and tlie weaker pupils is thus being widened. Teachers are keeping a record of the work,- and work of good quality will count towards the pupil is promotion at the end of the year. Parents are again urged to do their utmost to assist children with these lessons. Read carefully the tirst half of the March Journal. W T rite out four new pieces of information you have found out from the February Journal. ENGLISH. ESSAY.

Standard lI.—A mouse's story; or describe a rabbit. Standard lll.—Describe your favourite shop window; or story of a baby left alone with the ink; or a horse’s storv.

Standard IV. —My hobby; or the story of a pair of spectacles.

Standard Y. and VI. —The different fvays in which people travel about the ivorld; or, an imaginary adventure in a :ave; or an experiment. LESSONS IN ENGLISH.

Standard V. —Revise England, and write four of each of the following:— Holiday resorts, ship-building towns, important rivers, places famous in history.

Standard Vl.—Draw a map of the United States, America, putting in the chief mountains, rivers and railways.

Standards 111 and IV. —Read all you can about Edward the Confessor, Harold, the last Saxon King; and William, Duke of Normandy .

Standard V. —Read the story of the Pilgrim Fathers. Standard Vl.—Read the story of our 'East Indian Empire, paying attention to the part played by the East India Company and Clive. NATURE STUDY.
