MASTERTON HARRIERS.
THE COMING SEASON.
BRIGHT PR'OSPECTS.
The prospects for the coming crosscountry season are bright, as evidenced by the good muster of past members and “freshmen” at the local Harrier Club 's first run on Saturday.
A judiciously chosen course by the club veterans J. Kitchener and J. Hunter, set a fairly easy task for everyone. Those members fresh from the track showed the. benefit of their training, especially E. McEachen. L. Trass was particularly prominent amongst the novices, and to all appearancs will be running from a very short handicap before many runs. J. Bolton rail well, keeping well with the pack over the whole journey The run-in was only fair. N. Winhall threw out a challenge to McEachen at the 50 yards post, but the latter gained the decision through being the better sprinter, L. Trass taking third place five seconds later. G. Trusc-ott and R. Lambess led for the greater part of the distance, but lacked actual speed at the finish.
