There was a full yarding of sheep, mostly poor to medium quality. Only odd pens of good lambs and owes wore yarded, which did not sell up to late prices. There was a slight drop all round owing to quality. A good yarding of all classes of cattle. Stores were not wanted, nearly every pen being passed in. Cattle wore not wanted by s the butchers, the meat works taking nearly all the lines. Fat lambs 2o_s 10d, 26s Od, 20s to 445, ewes 27s Od, 27s lOd to 28s 6d, wethers 26s Od to 4ns, b.f. sheep 20s 2d, wt\. lambs best 21s 6d to 24s 6d, medium 17s to 20s, small 12s to liis, b.f. lambs best 21s 7d to 24s 2d, medium TBs Id to 10s 4d, breeding ewes best 2ns 10d to 22s Od, medium Ins 6d to 22s 6d, wethers 28s 2d to 225. Cattle: Empty I‘S-month P.A. steers £5 ss, medium fat cows £5 2s 6d, good fat oews £5 Ins, empty f. and f. P.A. cows £5 113.

CARTERTON SALE

Wright, Stephenson and Co., Ltd., report: We offered a fair yarding of sheep, cattle and pigs to the usual attendance. 'Prices were practically on a par with recent rates and we made a total clearance under the hammer. Rape lambs 245, b.f. lambs (small) 17s Sd to 18s 2d, w.f. ewe lambs (woolly) 265, cull w.f. lambs 14s 4d, cull lambs 8s 6d to 10s 2d, '2l-year steers £5 4s, 4-year bullocks i£B, store cows £2 11s to £2 18s. The W.F.C.A., Ltd., report on their Carterton sale as follows: \\ e offered a fairly good entry of cattle and pigs and one pen of sheep. Cattle and sheep sold at late rates and pigs met with an improved market. We report: 131 store ewes 14s, fat cows £5 10s, forward do. £2 ns to £4 ns, store do 2ns, wcaner pigs 10s to 12s 6d, slips Ins, porkers 355, 30s to £2 2s.
