(By Telegraph—Press Association.) CIIR IST Cl IU R CH, Friday. The second test match commenced today in line weather. The wicket was good and the outfield fast. For the most part the play was slow, the New Zealand batsmen taking no risks.

The last wicket fell with the score at which is 13 more than the first innings produced at Wellington last week. Victoria opened inauspiciously, Maync being clean bowled with Ihe fifth ball. CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. The second test was resumed in dull weather. The wicket is still fast and in good order.

The Victorians continued their first innings, Ellis (10) and Wallace (1) going to the crease. Mc.Beth bowled from the pavilion end, and two byes came off the over. Dickinson rocked them in from the south end.

Ellis scored a single. Mcßeth in his second over beat the batsman and the keeper, and the ball went to the boundary for byes. It was a maiden over.

'One of Dickinson’s also wont to the boundary for byes. Extras were now 15 out of 30. Soon they were 17 through Garrard missing one from MeBeth. At 46 Wallace touched a ball from Dickinson, and Garrard took a splendid catch. Ellis was not out 19, and extras were 19.

Woodfull was the newcomer.
