New Zealand elected to bat first on a good wicket. 'However, they were dismissed for 226 runs. Alloo, who was top-scorer with 51 not out, played a. valuable innings, and good form was also shown by \\ orker and Blunt, who batted solidly. Hiddlcston commenced well, and the two last batsmen", Dickinson and McBeath, played brightly. Liddicutt, Wallace and ITartkopf bore the brunt of the attack, and all did well. The wicket is again in good order. Ellis and Austin resumed Victoria’s innings. 'Off Dickinson’s first over Ellis was dropped by-Condliffe on the leg side. The batsmen left Mcßeath, who was off the wicket, severely alone. The crowd became a little impatient at the slow tactics, Mcßeath and Dickinson both bowling maidens.
