FOOTBALL.

FEATHERSTON WELCOME. TO HARVEY AND DONALD. A large gathering in Featherston yesterday afternoon welcomed Wairarapa’s two All Blacks. Q. Donald and I. H. Harvey, who motored through from Wellington. Both players were accorded an enthusiastic welcome, and were the recipients of congratulations and good wishes from the large concourse of friends and admirers. The Mayor (Mr J. W. Card) opened the proceedings, and referred in eulogistic terms to the part played by Wairarapa’s representatives in the making of Rugby history. He sympathised with Harvey in his succession off illnesses, but reminded him that the people of the Wairarapa were well aware of the high opinion held of his play in the early stages of the tour, before he met his run of bad luck. .Messrs J. Adamson Football Club), E. McKenzie rapa Rugby Union), and J. F. Thompson (Grevtown), also spoke, expicssing the district’s appreciation of the manner in which its boys had upheld its good reputation. Both players suitably replied. Air Harvey arrived in Masterton last evening. RED star club. The annual meeting of the Bf'd Star Club will be held in the Oddfellows' Hall to-night, at 7.30 o’clock. ANOTHER TOUR. ALL BLACKS GOING TO AUS*’ THALIA. The All Black team for Australia will leave on June 4tli. It will be composed of twenty-three players, all selected from outside the present All Blacks. The main object ot the New Zealand Union is to have as much material asrpossible in view of the English team’s tour of the Dominion next season, amt the projected tour of South Africa in the following year.
